The Party

The party…

The party for Logan’s first birthday went off without a hitch. We WERE worried (unnecessarily) about the weather, but it held. Of course, an hour after the party, it was raining cats and dogs… But that was an hour after.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, Morningstar Better-N-Burgers for some, it ALL was good. Of course, we have frozen hamburgers left, enough for 8 meals for my family… and enough hot dogs to feed a little league team… but that food will keep. The same couldn’t be said for the food we had for Donovan’s first birthday party, where we ordered enough food to feed 80 people, and we actually only had 20 guests. We did deli trays and ringleader $andwiche$ for that…

I didn’t realize how much sun I had gotten until I stepped into the shower the following morning and felt the stinging sensation of water hitting my sunburned neck. OUCH! But at least the kids had the good sense to stay in the shade that was afforded by the park’s picnic area.

Yes… The Park. The park where my sister, brother, and I grew up (my brother until he was 7 - my sister and I our entire growing-up years) was the setting for this picnic. South Dade Park. It’s a nice neighborhood park with playgrounds, and a nice picnic space. Anyhow…

The picnic was fun. I guess seven-and-a-half pounds of beans was too much…. :-D

Happy Birthday, Logan!!!

My son Logan is one year old today. One year ago, about this time, we saw him for the first time - the beautiful baby boy. Actually, my wife, Tracy, and I looked at each other and said: “Oh my god - twins.”

Turns out that Logan and Donovan, while physically similar, are totally different personality wise. Donovan flits from thing to thing with much agility, while Logan tenaciously plows through whatever obstacles are in his path. Logan will keep trying to do something until it gets done, regardless of progress. Donovan? He sometimes gives up before he starts.

In any case, the big party is Saturday… about 40 of our closest friends and family will meet at a park near the old house where I grew up and have a nice little shindig. The barbecue, if hot dogs and hamburgers could be called that, will take a while to cook, but should be satisfying! The weather should hold up… to the point of being unbearably hot. Grill master me gets lucky.
