Christmas is…

Yes, I am becoming a practicing Buddhist, but that doesn't mean I can't celebrate that yuletide holiday of consumer proportions…  But I have decided that the holiday, to me, means the following:

1) Being able to listen to my sons come out of their bedroom and exclaim “Wow” when they see the tree decorated, or see their new trains under the tree
2) Hearing everyone claim that the gifts that we gave them were awesome
3) Shaping my gift-giving to reduce consumer-mindedness (yes, it's not a word, but maybe we can coin a new phrase)

It's always fun to give and receive gifts, of course more to give than to receive.  This year, my wife and I were considering giving gifts by giving in our friends' and families' names to Heifer, but we decided at the last minute to change our tack and give “regular” gifts.  This year, we gave just about all of our family and friends dinner out at The Outback Steakhouse…  it was an expensive Christmas, but hopefully our friends and families will remember the time they had at dinner with their own families.  :-)

Ah yes…

The holidays are here. I got an “A” on my stats final, and an “A” in the course.  We got a settlement for the car that was totaled about a month ago.  All is right with the world.  Now all we gotta do is get my older son to start listening to us again, and we'll be great!!!

It was "good" for as long as it lasted…

We bought a “new” car this weekend.  Actually, the car was previously owned by my in-laws, and is now ours.  Not a bad deal, it's a 2000 Saturn SL2.  Green when I prefer blue, but hey - it's wheels, and it makes my wife safer when she goes to do her job.

The score…

So, I had an exam last Tuesday in Statistics.  I left a 14 point question blank, and when I turned it in, the prof quickly looked through my paper and sent me back to my desk, claiming it was an open book test, I had 15 minutes left, read the chapter and finish the problem.  My score ended up being a 96.  Not bad for not having studied.  I need to thank him.

Spent the day with my best friend from college.  We've known each other for, oh, 13 years or so… and, unlike the suggestion from , did not end up at the Executive Airport Motel, though she told me that there are some people who I work with who do have experience with that particular facility.  Actually, we went walking around Coral Gables, and ended up at the Aston Martin/Ferrari/Maserati dealer.

I got to lay my hands on a $283,000 car.

Dreamin'!!!
