It's over…

At least officially, Hurricane Season has come to a close.

No, I did not stay awake to witness the end of the season from hell; I stayed awake for the same reason grad students the world over at the end of a semeseter stay awake: to read. My current book: “Putting Women in Place” by Mona Domosh and Joni Seager. Actually an undergraduate text on the gendered aspects of geography as it relates to space, place, and identity. It's a good book… anyhow, I digress.

So…

As I mentioned previously, Hurricane Season is officially over. Now, it seems that nature didn't get the message. There's still a tropical system out there (Epsilon, if I recall… and how hard it would be to forget - “E” in the Greek alphabet…) In any case, a friend of mine, , thought the season was over after Wilma; I, personally, would be willing to bet that two more form before we say “sayonara” to 2005. I don't think they'll hit land, but with sea surface temps hovering around 25c, there still is plenty of energy in the Atlantic to be expended in tropical force.

We'll see, only time will tell. I hope I'm wrong.

, what do you think?
