We have an ongoing problem with our oldest child, Donovan. He won’t eat what foods are put in front of him. In fact almost every mealtime is a struggle.
We have tried to feed him what he wants, but all he wants is junk food. Today he wouldn’t eat the oatmeal that has apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar. And now he is standing looking over my shoulder reading this as I type.
Does any one out there have any suggestions to get my reticent eater to actually eat?
… Not so good when talking weight. 284.5 at my first weigh-in two weeks ago, 286.5 today. But my nutritionist said to not fret, because of the meal I had yesterday which may cause this.
So, I’m still jazzed up about losing my weight, getting fit, and reducing my dependence on the pharmaceutical industry.
We’ll see what happens this week when I start going to the gym!
I am working through some issues I am having with an employee in the workgroup that I supervise. The issues are the following:
- Every time I implement a directive, I am questioned as to the rationale behind the directive; or,
- Am ignored until I issue a specific request to this individual; or,
- I am questioned in front of my entire group of employees as to how I came to the conclusion that I wish things to be done a certain way. And if I state that the organization wishes us to perform these tasks a certain way, I am asked who in the organization is making these requests. And if I don’t come forward with the answer, this employee keeps pressing.
Further, this employee has had verbal altercations with me – in front of my entire team, in which this employee has used profanity.
The last time this employee used profanity with me, per their request I advised the company’s HR team. At which time, I was called down and told that because I have used this language in the past (not directed at anyone, mind you), that I will need to go through supervisor training. Further, I was told that this employee has advised HR that I have been uncommunicative with him in the past, for example, when a machine he had been working on became compromised, and I revoked his access to the machine to get it cleaned – and subsequently decided to take it out of production (it was a web server) because of the risk this posed to the team.
I’m the one that’s being held over the fire here.
Actually, I’d love to take spring break. It would be fun if Tracy and I could go somewhere for it. But, alas, we attend two separate institutions of higher learning, and I think we both are on different schedules as far as our breaks are concerned.
Oh well.
I guess we just need to stick with it, and do our respective work, and wait for summer. Sigh…
I’m on a journey to a healthier me – in more ways than one.
For starters, I am now seeing an integrative medicine practitioner who is helping me get my act together with regard to my physical health and diabetes. She’s not a doctor, but works closely with my primary care practitioner to help me get there. She is a psychotherapist and nutritionist who has set up practice here in Miami. For those of you here who are interested in her services, I highly recommend her: click here to be taken to her site.
For those of you who know me, you know that for years – decades, really – I have played fast and loose with my money. Unfortunately, more other people’s money than my own. Even after a bailout a few years ago, I have continued this practice – though I must say that we have by and large avoided going deeper into debt in that period. Well, my wife and I have decided to take the opportunity of me getting healthier to get our financial house in order. We’ve started by seeing where we are, and mapping out where we’re going to go on our journey together.
All in all, we’re breaking the cycle all around – and we feel great.
I started a journey today… I just want to say “thank you” to my wife for standing behind me as I start this journey. Details soon.
